    Default 282 Teamsters

    Hello,

I dont know if you will all welcome me since I am not a teamster member. I just happened to stumble upon this site while helping my bf look for work. He was laid off from the carpentry union last year, but prior to that job has worked driving dump trucks/concrete trucks, etc. He is trying to get back into the field & its been very hard.

Anyone on here from Staten Island???

    staten79,
Welcome to the site. It's tough all over trying to get decent jobs. Worst we've all ever seen in fact. Sorry to hear about your boyfriend, I hope he finds something soon.

    hey staten.

    i'm originally from elizabeth.

i drove a ten wheel dumptruck up drumgoole boulevard 45 years ago during the construction of the clove lakes expressway.

i also spent a lot of time in various saloons on staten island because back in the day the drinking age in ny was 18 while it was 21 in nj.

tell yer b/f to get his hazmat and tank endorsement on his cdl.

there are usually zillions of tanker driver jobs right across the goethals bridge in jersey.

just get the newark yellow pages and look in trucking.

this might tide him over 'til he can get a sandbox or mixer gig in 282.

check out and see if there still is a louizeaux cement company in elizabeth.

they always hired mixer drivers seasonally.

    good luck.

btw; is the 'question mark' still over there by great kills?
